To help students maximize their studying time, the Darien Library will offer extended hours the week of midterms, offering Blue Wave scholars access to the library for additional hours. The entire library will remain open until 10:30 p.m. Wednesday Jan. 16, Thursday, Jan. 17, Monday, Jan. 21, and Tuesday, Jan. 22. The library has previously offered extended hours for test takers with much success.
The library offers many resources to students including spaces for both quiet and group study. Librarians are on hand to answer reference questions in person, by IM, email or phone. To reserve a study room, contact AskUs@darienlibrary.org, call 669-5236 or Text AskDL to 66746 and then reply to our automatic message with your request. (standard message rates apply). Study rooms may be reserved one week in advance in two hour increments. Students will be asked to give their name and phone number to reserve the room and accept responsibility for the condition of the room and reservations will only be held for 15 minutes before being made available to others who are waiting.
Darien Library strives to accommodate the needs of students during this time and students who wish to order meals to be delivered should wait for the deliveries on the first floor. Meals and messy snacks should be eaten at the café tables. Uncle’s Brain Food Café will also offer extended hours and will be staying open 9 p.m. that week. On Wednesday and Thursday nights there will be snack breaks in the Teen Lounge for those wishing to take a break from the rigor of exams.
