A patron of Whole Foods had her wallet stolen and later her credit card was used to buy over $1,000 in goods from Walmart on Sunday, Dec. 23.

Police said the victim was shopping with her daughter when an African-American woman approached her and engaged in small talk. Once the woman left, the victim checked her pocketbook, which has been in the shopping cart, and discovered her wallet missing.

The black woman is described as approximately 5’2” with a stocky build, police said. She was wearing a winter hat and a long light green jacket. The wallet contained approximately $60 in cash and two credit cards. It was later determined that one of the credit cards was used at the Walmart on Connecticut Avenue in Norwalk. Two charges totaling $1,021.76 were used at Walmart to purchase gift cards and phone cards, police said.
