Thomas Edward Skerrett, a 38 year resident of Darien, died on Tuesday, Dec. 18, at Greenwich Hospital.

Born August 29, 1962 in Brooklyn, N.Y., he was the son of Walter Francis and Catherine Ann Skerrett of Darien. He was 50.

Mr. Skerrett graduated from Darien High School in 1980, and worked in downtown Darien for the past 32 years as the sales manager for A.D. Mackay. He was an avid musical enthusiast and enjoyed singing and playing the guitar, his family said.

Mr. Skerrett is survived by his three siblings: Edward Skerrett; Katherine Slinsky and her husband Richard Slinsky; and Susie Skerrett, all of Darien; a niece Jessica Jean Skerrett of Milford, and a nephew Stephen James Skerrett of Milford.

There will be no calling hours. A private burial was held on Saturday Dec. 22.

In lieu of flowers, the Skerrett family asks that when the opportunity arises that you honor Mr. Skerrett’s memory by doing something good for someone else.

Tom was a GREAT guy — he was going to be the best man at our wedding, but he was too shy. We were friends for life and will miss him greatly. Our hearts go out to his family and all those affected by his passing. Tom will be missed.

I knew Tom for many years, as a customer and wonderful person. He was always professional and kind. He will be missed. God bless his entire family.
