Darien schools upgrade safety precautions in light of Newtown tragedy

Darien Schools Superintendent Stephen Falcone released the following regarding the shooting in Newtown on Friday:

In light of the tragic shootings at the Sandy Hook Elementary School in Newtown, Connnecticut we have acted quickly to ensure the safety of all children in our schools.

1. We have been in contact with the Darien Police Department and they have heightened their vigilance around school grounds.
2. We have reinforced our security system in and around our school buildings.
3. Doors have been checked to ensure that all are fully locked.

4. We continue to provide an emotionally safe environment for our students.

We are addressing this issue with great care and concern.  The safety of students and those who work in the schools are our highest priority.  Our thoughts and prayers are with our neighbors in Newtown and all those impacted by this tragedy.
