Obituary: Constance Marilyn Leon Brameier

On Wednesday, November 21, 2012, Constance Marilyn Leon Brameier, 90, of Clearwater, Florida and formerly of Darien,  died at home.

She was born May 11, 1922 and raised in New Rochelle, NY. Attended the College of William and Mary and graduated from the Katharine Gibbs School in NYC.

Always a gifted writer, she went to work for ABC Broadcasting.

On July 23, 1949 in a garden wedding, she became the loving wife of James W. Brameier and together raised 4 children in Darien, Ct. She taught Sunday school at the Noroton Presbyterian Church and wrote for the Darien Review covering school events.

Connie, as she was called by all, along with her husband, Jim were charter members of the Country Club of Darien, where she served as Ladies Golf Chair and Swim Team Chair. She was also founder and chairperson of the Merry-Go-Rounders formal dinner dance group for many years.

She love her family, entertaining, travel, music, dance and sports. She was an excellent cook, bridge player and a great golfer, with 2 holes-in-one.

While a member of Eastlake Woodlands Country Club she served as Chair of the Ladies Golf Association and was winner of the Senior Ladies Championship in 1991 while also serving on the club’s Board of Directors.

With many wonderful memories, she leaves behind her loving husband of 63 years, James W. Brameier; her children: Ann, Marylou, Jeff and Kathryn, along with 7 grandchildren and 2 great-granddaughters and her devoted companion cat Koko.
