Snow (and maybe some rain) could last all of Tuesday

One to three inches of snow could stick Tuesday in Darien and possibly mix with rain Tuesday afternoon, according to the National Weather Service.

The snow is expected to accumulate along inland roadways were temperatures early Tuesday were below freezing, according to the weather service. At 7:30 a.m., it was 34 degrees in Darien.

“Bands of light snow that were developing over parts of the lower Hudson Valley before daybreak should move into southern Connecticut this morning,” the service said in a special weather statement issued Tuesday morning. “Light snow should change to rain by late this morning along the immediate coast and mix with rain this afternoon farther inland.”

The precipitation is expected to turn to all now Tuesday evening before tapering off Tuesday night. Total snow accumulations could range up to three inches, according to some forecasts, north of the Merritt Parkway, one to two inches north of Interstate 95, and less than inch along the immediate coastline.

No Connecticut school delays or closings were reported by 6:15 a.m. Tuesday.
