On Friday, Nov. 30, the annual Community-Wide Movie, benefiting the Darien Social Services Holiday gift drive, will take place at the Darien Playhouse.
Sponsored by the first selectman’s office, the Darien Youth Commission, the Darien Social Services Department, the Depot and the movie theater, this year’s film will is “Rise of the Guardians.”
The movie, which will start at 4 p.m. is “free,” however, in lieu of payment, each movie-goer is asked to bring donations as follows: a new toy, gift cards (for example Barnes & Nobles; Walmart; CVS; Walgreen’s; Target; Subway; local eateries; etc.), books, etc. All items should be new and unwrapped with a value of at least $10 each.
To get tickets, an adult should come to the Darien Youth Commission office, room 110, in the Town Hall between on Thursday, Nov. 29, or Friday, Nov. 30 until 1 p.m. Tickets will be issued for admission at this time. Movie-goers should bring tickets and gifts to the theater for admissions. Theater doors will open at 3:30.
This event is not a drop-off event. All children must be accompanied by an adult —at least one adult per four children is required. Tickets & gifts are required for adult movie-goers as well. Please note that tickets this year are more limited as we only have access to one theater.
