SPEDucated Parents is a community organization committed to providing advocacy skills to families with children who have learning disabilities and special needs.
SPEDucated Parents believes that every parent needs to become informed about the SPED system to be their child’s best advocate.
The meetings will cover information parents need to ask for from the school to assess their child’s needs and progress and to understand the laws that protect special needs children.
The group’s goal is to de-mystify the PPT process from eligibility through SRBI, 504, and IEPs.
As the group grows, parents will be able to advocate together to the Darien Administration for cost-conscious and effective reforms to SPED services.
The next meeting will be a presentation by Kathleen Casparino, an advocate from Connecticut Educational Advisors at the Taylor Room in St. Luke’s Parish, on Thursday, Nov. 7 at 10:30 to 12. An RSVP is not required.
