The state’s Insurance Department has provided a dedicated “Storm Sandy” page featuring resources for consumers and the industry. The page will be updated with contact information, bulletins regarding claims process and other issues that may be activated during and after the storm. Insurance Commissioner Thomas B. Leonardi said his department will help keep consumers in touch with their insurers and work closely with state and federal officials to quickly get adjusters to damaged areas.
Gov. Dannel Malloy recently declared that insurance carriers cannot issue higher deductibles to homeowners because of the storm.
