Dear Members,
I am happy to report that as of 8:00PM this evening, October 31st, power to the Darien YMCA has been restored and we plan to re-open tomorrow morning at 6:30 a.m. With the exception of Holly Pond Nursery School, whose schedule follows the Darien Public Schools, all of our programs will be up and running on Thursday, Nov. 1st, including: Fitness classes, Personal Training, Aquatic classes, Pirana Swim Team workout, Gymnastic classes and Gymnastic teams practices. In addition, our childcare services will be open for parents who want to work out.
Please note that our new Men’s and Women’s Locker Rooms will be open as well. While we are sure that you will enjoy the upgrades made to those rooms, there are a few construction “punch list” items that we will continue to work on over the next several days. This work will be done after hours and will not impact you in anyway. Those items include: installation of the kit lockers and calibration and finalization of the Women’s steam and sauna rooms, and Men’s steam room.
Finally, as a result of the many residents still without power, the Darien Y will be open to those who want to use our facility for a hot shower, to charge battery operated devices or simply as a place to spend time among fellow residents.
Although many of us have endured hardships and inconveniences in the past few days, I believe we have so much to be grateful for, not the least of which is a wonderful community facility like the Darien YMCA. The Staff and I look forward to seeing all of you back at the Y.
Sincerely,
Pat Morrissey
