Urgent message from Darien’s first selectman regarding storm

Governor Malloy has just announced that the tidal impact during the midnight high tide will be significantly worse than predicted.  Flood waters may reach areas as far north on Nearwater Lane as Nickerson Lane and on Rings End Road to the northern entrance of Harbor Road.

Areas originally predicted to be safe from flood waters are now extremely vulnerable.  Residents who have not evacuated must be prepared to move to higher elevations within their own homes.  Stay safely away from rising flood waters.

The Town of Darien is coordinating further evacuations with the State and Federal government.  National Guard and the Manchester Dive Rescue Team units are here in Darien and ready to respond.

Sewage pump stations are now at risk.  Please limit use of sanitary systems when possible.

This storm system is causing unprecedented damage to our town and recovery, when it can begin, will take time.
