Wave swim-dive and football squads, with DHS coaches Mr. and Mrs. Trifone down front, gather for the fund-raising annual walk.

The Darien High School girls swim-dive team, led by coach Marj Trifone, and the football team, led by coach Rob Trifone, came out in full force for the annual Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation walk at Calf Pasture Beach in Norwalk on Sunday.

Joined by members of the DJFL seventh grade team, they walked in support of Kevin Grune — a 12-year-old Darein Junior Football League player (No. 24 above) who was diagnosed with Type 1 Diabetes at age four.

Grune’s sister, Natalie, is a member of the DHS swim-dive team.
